Petrol station attendant wounded after robber opens fire
A petrol station attendant was shot by a would-be-robber at Jalan Genting Klang this evening.
The suspect, however, was nabbed by a member of public and other petrol station attendants in the 5.50pm incident.
City Criminal Investigation Department senior assistant commissioner Rusdi Mohd Isa said the suspect had barged into the petrol station and randomly fired his gun three times.
One of the shots struck the attendant.
Members of the public quickly apprehended the suspect and seized his pistol.
“The victim, who is a Bangladeshi, is currently hospitalised. The suspect was sent to the Kuala Lumpur Hospital,” he said.
Rusdi said police have not ruled out the possibility that the suspect had been involved in armed robbery cases before.
Asked if the suspect was also involved in an underworld gang, Rusdi declined to elaborate and said police were still investigating the case.
The case was being investigated under Section 3 of the Firearms (Increased Penalty) Act 1971.
The shooting took place about 300 meters from where V. Kandasamy was shot dead by gunmen in Jalan Danau Kota on July 27.
