Traffic at standstill after road loader carrying new cars overturns
Social media is filled with updates on an accident along the North South Expressway at Km421.7, near Bukit Tagar, in which a road loader, carrying new Honda cars, overturned. Free Malaysia Today has this report:
In the 11.30am incident on the southbound side of the PLUS highway, traffic was brought to a complete standstill.
PLUS informed road users of the incident on its official Twitter account @plustrafik at 11.34am.
In its latest update at 4.01pm, PLUS informed that removal works were still ongoing, stating that a contra lane had been opened.
“1601hrs Kerja pengalihan Kemalangan Km421.7 Bkt Tagar – Bkt Beruntung sedang dijalankan. Laluan Kontra dibuka. Sila patuhi arahan papan tanda,” PLUS tweeted.
PLUS also advised road users proceeding south to exit via Tanjung Malim as an alternative to avoid being stuck in the traffic jam.
Meanwhile, road users took to Twitter to vent their frustration over the delay the accident had caused.
User @NrlAzira tweeted that she was stuck for two hours near Bukit Tagar.
Another user @lamkeylar_ also tweeted how she was stuck for two hours, sharing a video of of the clearing-up process, which involved the use of a crane.
In some of the pictures posted by netizens on Twitter, some of the brand new cars were spotted turned over by the roadside.
It is understood that there were no casualties reported.
