Malaysian student in London jailed five years for having child porn, says report

A Malaysian student at London’s Imperial College has been jailed five years for possession of images and videos of child pornography, some of which were said to be the most extreme child porn British police have ever seen, the International Business Times reported today.

Nur Nordin, 23, was caught possessing 601 images and videos classified as category A, which is abuse involving penetrative sexual activity with children, as well as hundreds belonging to categories B and C.

The report said that upon searching his electronic devices, the police found in excess of 30,000 indecent images and videos of children being abused.

Nordin faces the possibility of deportation to Malaysia upon release from prison.

British police were alerted of his activities after discovering an Internet account that had been downloading thousands of sexual abuse videos and images.

When they searched Nordin’s home in November last year, the police found him with his laptop open, next to a life-sized mannequin of a young boy.

He was charged with possessing 1,156 banned images and videos of child pornography, described by investigators as the most severe they had seen.

“Nordin was involved in the making and sharing of some of the most extreme images that have ever been seen by officers in this field,” the report quoted Sara Keane of the Metropolitan Police serious crime unit as saying.

“The volume of images and the alarming content meant that a custodial sentence for Nordin was inevitable.”
